The Neurocognitive deadline

7 years from release

You must apply within 7 years of the date you were released from your team. Miss it and the benefit is closed.

What the testing involves

The Plan sends you to its neutral physicians for tests of memory, attention, processing and mood. Preparation matters: make sure your medical history, including concussions and any prior neurological evaluations, is in front of them.

Neurocognitive benefits and CTE

CTE can only be confirmed after death. But the symptoms CTE NFL players live with, like memory loss, mood changes and trouble focusing, can support a Neurocognitive claim while you are living. Read about NFL CTE and brain injury benefits →
